Farxiga Forxiga canada

Farxiga (Dapagliflozin) is a type of medication called a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor. It is used to reduce blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Dapagliflozin works in the kidneys, where it allows the body to excrete excess glucose from the blood into the urine. This reduces the blood sugar level. This medication may be used either on its own, or combined with other antidiabetic medicines if these have not controlled blood sugar levels well enough.

In a clinical trial: Dapagliflozin improves glycemic control and reduces body weight as add-on therapy to metformin plus sulfonylurea: a 24-week randomized, double-blind. S Matthaei, K Bowering, K Rohwedder, A Grohl… - Diabetes …, 2015 - Am Diabetes Assoc … In this trial, hypoglycemia was observed more frequently in patients receiving dapagliflozin compared with placebo when added to preexisting metformin and sulfonylurea treatment.
