Entocort EC (Budesonide) capsules belong to the class of medications called corticosteroids. It is used to treat mild to moderate Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory disease of the bowel. Budesonide is a steroid that reduces inflammation in the body. It works by decreasing inflammation in the intestine and colon. The full effect of this medication is usually seen within 2 to 4 weeks.

We currently have the brand from UK and the generic Budez CR from Sun Pharm in India. It may come from other international countries. Entocort EC is available in capsule form and strengths of 3 mg only. Budesonide oral is available in common brand names such as Entocort EC (3 mg) and
Uceris (9 mg)
Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:
• Menstrual problems (in women), impotence or loss of interest in sex (in men);
• Stretch marks, changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and
waist);
• Thinning skin, easy bruising, increased acne or facial hair.
Common side effects may include:
• Cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat;
• Headache;
• Mild Nausea
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with budesonide and lead to potentially dangerous effects. Avoid the use of grapefruit products while taking budesonide. There may be an interaction between budesonide and any of the following:
• Cyclosporine
• Erythromycin
• Fluconazole
• Itraconazole
• Ketoconazole
• Miconazole
• Troleandomycin
