Enablex (Darifenacin) is used to treat the symptoms of overactive bladder, such as urgent or frequent urination and incontinence. It works by reducing muscle spasms in the bladder and urinary tract. The usual recommended start dose is 7.5mg tablet.

Manufacturer Information

The brand Enablex is available from Canada by Methapharm and Turkey also called Emselex by Novartis. The generic Enablex comes from India also called Darilong manufactured by Sun Pharma. It may come from other international countries. Enablex is available in a 7.5mg and 15mg dosage.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking Enablex.

• Difficulty breathing;
• Hives;
• Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat

Stop taking Enablex and call your doctor at once if you have one of these serious side effects:

• Confusion or hallucinations;
• Little or no urination;
• Pain or burning when urinating;
• Severe stomach pain or constipation;
• Signs of dehydration:
o Being unable to urinate
o Feeling hot
o Feeling thirsty
o Heavy sweating
o Hot or dry skin

Less serious side effects of Enablex may include: nausea, indigestion, constipation, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, and blurred vision.

Enablex should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Enablex. Particularly if you have a history of: glaucoma, liver disease, ulcerative colitis, blockage in the stomach or intestines, muscle disorder (myasthenia gravis), or if you have very little or weak stream of urine. You should not take Enablex if you are allergic to Darifenacin, if you have untreated or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a stomach disorder causing the delay of digestion, or if you have trouble emptying your bladder. It is unknown how this medication may affect an unborn or nursing infant. Talk to your doctor about the risks if you are pregnant or nursing before taking Enablex. There may be an interaction between Enablex and other medications including: clarithromycin, flecainide, thioridazine, antidepressants, antifungals, HIV/AIDS medications. Talk to your doctor about any medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking.
