Elocom is in a group of drugs called topical corticosteriods. Elocom (Mometasone Furoate) is used to treat eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rash. It works by decreasing swelling and inflammation, itching, and redness. The usual recommended start dose is 0.1%/75ml topical ointment.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking Mometasone Furoate.

• Difficulty breathing;
• Hives;
• Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat

Stop taking Elocom and call your doctor at once if you have one of these serious side effects:

• Allergic skin reactions;
• Bacterial and secondary infections;
• Acne;
• Inflammation and/or infection of the hair follicles;
• Thinning of skin;
• Red marks with prickly heat;
• Loss of skin color;
• Burning, itching, stinging, tingling;
• Excessive hair growth;
• Softening of the skin and stretch marks

Less serious side effects of Mometasone Furoate may include dry skin, skin irritation, dermatitis, and small dilated blood vessels.

Elocom should be used on certain areas of the skin. Avoid using it on the face, groin, or underarms. Wash your hands after use and avoid getting any of this medication in your eyes. Talk to your doctor about your medical history to be sure you can safely take Elocom. This medication should only be used during pregnancy or when nursing when it is clearly needed. It is best to talk with your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you are pregnant or nursing. While unlikely, using this medication long-term can affect a child’s adult height growth. Corticosteroids of any kind can make it harder to treat skin infections. There may be some drugs that interact with this medication. If you are taking any of these medications, speak to your doctor.
