Duvoid (Bethanechol) is a prescription medication used to treat urinary incontinence (inability to hold urine or void urine completely). Bethanechol is also effective in treating people who have trouble urinating after surgery or after delivering a baby. Bladder disorder may be caused by nerve injury during surgery or bladder muscle disorder. The active ingredient in Duvoid is Bethanechol. Bethanechol belongs to the group of medicine called parasympathomimetics. It works by helping the bladder muscle to squeeze better, thereby improving your ability to urinate. Treating urinary incontinence prevents someone from suffering from public disgrace and depression.

Get medical help immediately if you have any signs of an allergic reaction while taking Duvoid. The most common side effects of Duvoid may include:
• Abdominal pain;
• Diarrhea;
• Increased gastric motility;
• Headache;
• Lacrimation;
• Nausea;
• Vomiting;
• Salivation;
• Urinary urgency
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects including:
• Allergic reactions such as difficulty with breathing, facial swelling, and generalized body rash;
• Dizziness or light-headedness;
• Hematuria or passage of blood in the urine;
• Severe dizziness;
• Worsening of symptoms or inability to make urine
Before taking the Duvoid tablet, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Bethanechol or have other problems taking this medication. Duvoid is a tablet best taken on an empty stomach to avoid nausea and vomiting. Taking this medication at least 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after eating helps to minimize upset stomach. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding;
• Have bladder neck obstruction;
• Have asthma;
• Have epilepsy;
• Have low blood pressure or hypotensive;
• Has a stomach ulcer
Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if Bethanechol chloride passes into breast milk. If you are a breastfeeding mother taking the Duvoid tablet, it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Bethanechol and other medications such as atropine, galantamine, oxybutynin, procainamide, and quinidine. Store this medication at room temperature and keep it out of reach of children.
