Dristan Nasal Spray (Oxymetazoline hydrochloride) is an over-the-counter medication to relieve nasal congestion temporarily. The irritation or inflammation of the nasal tissues causes nasal congestion. Colds, flu, sinusitis, allergies, and hay fever cause congestion in the nose. The active ingredient in Dristan Nasal Spray is Oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Oxymetazoline belongs to a class of medications called nasal decongestants. It narrows the blood vessels in the nasal passages to relieve congestion and make breathing easier through the nose.
