Dilantin Infatabs (Phenytoin) is a prescription medication used to prevent and control seizures. Seizures are caused by rapid and uncoordinated electrical firing in the brain. This can cause temporary abnormalities in movement, behavior, sensations, or a loss of consciousness. The active ingredient in Dilantin Infatabs is Phenytoin. Phenytoin belongs to a class of drugs called anticonvulsants. It works by altering electrical activity between neurons by affecting neurotransmitters in the synapses. This reduces the spread of seizure activity in the brain.
