Dificid (Fidaxomicin) is used to treat diarrhea caused by an infection with Clostridium difficile. Fidaxomicin belong to the class of medications called macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria in the intestines but it is not absorbed by your body. Dificid will not work for other types of infections including viral infections. This medication is usually taken with or without food twice daily.
