Dermotic (Fluocinolone) is a prescription medication used to treat eczema of the outer ear in adults and children above two years old. This condition is also known as chronic itchy ear, presenting symptoms such as itchiness, redness, flaking, or oozing. The active ingredient in Dermotic is Fluocinolone. Fluocinolone belongs to a class of medications called corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

We currently offer the brand Dermotic from Canada, manufactured by Hill Dermaceuticals, in the strength of 20 ml ear drops. The generic Fluocinolone is not available.
Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Dermotic. The most common side effects of Dermotic may include the following:
• Rash around the application site;
• Redness around hair follicles;
• Skin discoloration;
• Stinging or irritation at the application site
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Severe irritation in or around your ear;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat;
• Signs of steroid absorption, such as thinning skin, irritability, irregular menstrual periods, or unusual weight gain
These are not all of the side effects of Dermotic. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Dermotic if you are allergic to Fluocinolone or any ingredient in Dermotic. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have peanut allergy;
• Have skin infection
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Dermotic and other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Dermotic can harm your fetus. This drug should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Fluocinolone passes into breast milk or if it may harm your nursing infant.
