Credelio (Lotilaner) is a prescription medication used to kill adult fleas for one month in dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks old and weighing more than 4.4 lbs (1.4kg). The drug is also used to prevent flea infestations caused by the parasite Ctenocephalides felis. Credelio may also be used to control and treat tick infestations caused by the parasites Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick), Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick) and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick). The active ingredient in Credelio is Lotilaner. Lotilaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline insecticides. It works by causing paralysis and, eventually, death of the parasites.
