Contrave (Bupropion/Naltrexone) Extended Release is a combination medication that is used to help you lose weight. Contrave is used in combination with a doctor-approved exercise, behavior change and reduced-calorie diet program. Bupropion is an antidepressant that may help restore the balance of certain natural chemicals in the brain. Naltrexone belongs to a class of drugs known as opiate antagonists. Bupropion and Naltrexone work together on separate parts of the brain to reduce appetite and control how much you eat. Contrave is used by people who are obese or have weight-related medical problems. You can lessen many health risks that come with obesity, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and a shorter life by losing weight.
