Colofac (Mebeverine Hydrochloride) is a prescription medication that is used to treat symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other similar conditions such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis. Mebeverine Hydrochloride belongs to the group of medications known as antispasmodic agents. This medication works by relaxing the muscles in the gut which relieves the symptoms of IBS. Colofac tablets are usually taken three times daily twenty minutes before each meal.

The less serious side effects of Colofac include constipation, dizziness, headache, heartburn and indigestion, nausea, rash and vomiting.
