Cipralex (Escitalopram) is a prescription medication used to treat depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic attacks in adults and children (above 18 years). The active ingredient in Cipralex is Escitalopram. Escitalopram belongs to a group of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the levels of a mood-enhancing chemical called serotonin in the brain. It usually takes four to six weeks to see the full effects of this medication.
