Cefzil (Cefprozil) is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing and stopping the growth of bacteria.

We currently offer the generic Cefrozil from Canada in the strength of 250 mg and 500 mg tablets. The brand version is not available.
Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Cefzil may include abnormal liver function tests, diaper rash, diarrhea, nausea, and vaginal itching or discharge.
Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Confusion or weakness;
• Dark colored urine;
• Easy bruising or unusual bleeding;
• Fever or chills;
• Kidney problems;
• Pale or yellowed skin;
• Seizures;
• Severe stomach pain, water or bloody diarrhea;
• Sore throat or mouth sores

You should not take Cefzil if you are allergic to Cefprozil or any other cephalosporin antibiotics. Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctors about your medical history and if you have ever had:
• An allergy to any medication especially penicillin;
• Intestinal problems;
• Kidney disease;
• Phenylketonuria
Some antibiotics can make birth control pills less effective. Talk to your doctor about using a non-oral birth control to prevent pregnancy. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Cefzil and other medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medication is not approved for use by anyone younger than six months old.
