Casodex (Bicalutamide) is an anti-androgen that is used in combination with another hormone to treat prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body. This medication works in the body by preventing the actions of androgens (male hormones) in the prostate, slowing growth of the tumors. Bicalutamide belongs to a group of medications known as nonsteroidal antiandrogens. This medication should not be used in women or children.

The common side effects may include:
• Body aches and pains;
• Constipation;
• Diarrhea;
• Dizziness or drowsiness;
• Hair loss;
• Gas, nausea, vomiting;
• Loss of appetite;
• Swelling, tenderness or pain in the breast;
• Weight changes
The serious side effects may include decreased numbness/tingling of the hands or feet, decreased sexual ability/desire, mental/mood changes, swelling of the arms/legs, painful urination, unusual or easy bleeding/bruising, trouble breathing, vision changes.
You should not use Casodex if you are allergic to Bicalutamide. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about all the medications you were taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires you to be alert. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. You should avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths, and sunlamps. Casodex should not be used in women or children.
