Calcium Sandoz is an over-the-counter medication used to prevent and treat calcium deficiency. This condition can occur due to inadequate dietary intake, certain medical conditions, or medications. Calcium also prevents and treats osteoporosis (a condition that weakens bones), increases the risk of fractures, and supports bone health. Calcium is necessary for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. Calcium Sandoz is also used with vitamin D3 to treat rickets and osteomalacia. Rickets is the softening of growing bones in children, while osteomalacia is the softening of adult bones. The active ingredient in Calcium Sandoz is Calcium. Calcium belongs to a class of drugs called dietary supplements. The body absorbs Calcium from the intestine and distributes it throughout the body in the blood. Calcium supports bodily functions such as nerve function, muscle contraction, blood clotting, and hormone release.
