Brilinta (Ticagrelor) belongs to the group of medications called platelet aggregation inhibitors or antiplatelet agents. This medication used with a low-dose aspirin to help prevent heart attack and stroke in people with heart problems. It may also be used to prevent heart attack or stroke after certain surgeries. Ticagrelor works by blocking the platelets from sticking together to form harmful clots. It helps to keep the blood flowing smoothly in the body to help reduce the risk of another cardiovascular event.
