Betadine (Povidone Iodine) is used to treat minor wounds such as cuts, scrapes, burns. it is also used to prevent or treat mild skin infections. It is also used to help prevent infection and promote healing of skin wounds, pressure sores, or surgical incisions. Povidone Iodine belongs to the class of drugs called antiseptics. This medication works by inactivating many infecting bacteria and fungi.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Betadine may include burning, redness, irritation of the skin.
Stop using Betadine and contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Blistering or crusting;
• Itching, or burning;
• Severe irritation;
• Signs of an infection;
• Swelling, pain, warmth, redness, oozing
