Avalide (Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazidem, or Irbesartan/HCTZ) is prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Sometimes it also used to treat heart failure. Avalide is a combination medication containing Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazidem. Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist which works by relaxing blood vessels so that the blood can flow easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that can help your body get rid of extra water and salt. Take Avalide exactly prescribed.

We currently have the brand Avalide called Karvezide comes from Turkey manufactured by Sanofi Aventis and generic Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazidem comes from Canada. It is available in three strengths: 150 mg/12.5 mg, 300 mg/12.5 mg, and 300 mg/25 mg
The most common side effects of Avalide include:
• Abdominal pain;
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Lightheadedness;
• Runny or stuffy nose;
• Sore throat;
If you suffer any serious side effects as below, please notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
• Confusion;
• Dry mouth or increased thirst;
• Eye pain or vision problems;
• Fainting;
• Irregular heartbeat;
• Muscle weakness;
• Trouble breathing;
• Urination problems;
Do not take Avalide if you are allergic to Irbesartan/HCTZ or any other medications. Tell your doctor about all the medical conditions you have had before, especially if you have:
• Asthma;
• Dehydration;
• Diabetes;
• High cholesterol or triglyceride levels;
• Glaucoma;
• Gout;
• Kidney or liver disease;
• Low or high levels of potassium in your blood;
• Lupus;
• Urinating problems;
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines including herbal supplements. Especially: ACE inhibitors, aliskiren, benazepril/lisinopril, birth control pills, lithium, NSAIDs, other or blood pressure or diuretics medications. Stop using Avalide if you are pregnant. It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. It is not recommended to take it when you are breastfeeding.
