Atrovent Nasal Spray (Ipratropium Bromide) is a prescription medication used to relieve runny nose caused by the common cold, non-allergic rhinitis, or allergies in adults and children aged five or older. This drug will not relieve nasal congestion, sneezing, or postnasal drip caused by these conditions. The active ingredient in Atrovent Nasal Spray is Ipratropium Bromide. Ipratropium Bromide belongs to a class of medications called anticholinergics. It works by reducing the amount of mucus produced in the nose.

• Dry mouth;
• Dry nose;
• Headache

You should not use Atrovent Nasal Spray if you are allergic to Ipratropium Bromide or any ingredient in Atrovent Nasal Spray. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have bladder obstruction;
• Have enlarged prostate;
• Have kidney problems;
• Have liver problems;
• Have narrow-angle glaucoma
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Atrovent Nasal Spray and other medicines, like antihistamines, irritable bowel disease medications, motion sickness drugs, ulcer medicines, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Atrovent Nasal Spray will harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Nasal Ipratropium Bromide may pass into breast milk and may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Atrovent is a Nasal Spray. Spray this medication in your nostrils. Your dosage will depend on the condition you are treating. Do not spray ipratropium nasal spray in or around your eyes. Immediately flush your eyes with cool tap water for several minutes if this occurs. If you are using the nasal spray pump for the first time, prime the pump. Your pump does not have to be reprimed unless you have not used the medication for more than 24 hours. Blow your nose gently to clear your nostrils. Close one nostril, tilt your head slightly forward and keep the bottle upright. Insert the nasal tip into the other nostril. Point the tip toward the back and outer side of the nose. Press firmly and quickly upwards with the thumb at the base while holding the white shoulder portion of the pump between your index and middle fingers. Following each spray, sniff deeply and breathe out through your mouth. After spraying the nostril and removing the unit, tilt your head backward for a few seconds to let the spray spread over the back of the nose. Ipratropium Bromide nasal spray may cause dizziness or vision problems. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
