Astelin nasal spray (Azelastine) is a prescription medication used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children who are at least 5 years old. The drug also relieves symptoms of nonallergic vasomotor rhinitis in adults and children who are at least 12 years old. Histamine can produce rhinitis symptoms, including sneezing, post-nasal drip, and runny, itching, or stuffy nose. The active ingredient in Astelin is Azelastine. Azelastine belongs to a class of drugs called antihistamines. It works by blocking natural substances called histamines responsible for nasal symptoms.
