Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic Acid) is a prescription medication that relieves mild to moderate pain, including headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, and period pain. Aspirin is also effective in reducing the risk of repeat stroke in people who have suffered a stroke or heart attack or are at high risk of a heart attack. The active ingredient in Aspirin is Acetylsalicylic Acid. Aspirin belongs to the class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by stopping platelets from clumping together and forming blood clots that can cause a heart attack or stroke.
