Arixtra (Fondaparinux Sodium) is used to treat serious blood clots in the legs or the lungs. This medication is usually used with another “blood thinner” medication (warfarin). Untreated blood clots can cause serious breathing problems, heart attacks, or strokes. Arixtra belongs to a class of drugs known as blood thinners. It works by blocking certain natural substances in the blood that cause clotting.
