Alecensa (Alectinib hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat people with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (mNSCLC) and is caused by an abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene. mNSCLC grows and spreads more slowly than small-cell lung cancer. The active ingredient in Alecensa is Alectinib hydrochloride. Alectinib hydrochloride is an enteric coated tablet. Alectinib hydrochloride belongs to a class of drugs called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. The drug slows or stops the spread of cancer cells.
