Agrylin (Anagrelide) is a prescription medication used to treat a blood disorder called thrombocythemia, a blood cell disorder in which too many platelet cells are produced, which causes bleeding or blood-clotting problems. Platelets are a blood cell that the body uses to form blood clots but too many platelet can cause circulation and bleeding problems. Anagrelide belongs to a class of drugs known as antiplatelet agents. It works by reducing the number of platelets in the bloodstream by blocking their production.

The common side effects of Agrylin may include back pain, burning pain, chest pain, cough, fast heartbeats, feeling dizzy or weak, fever or not feeling well, gas, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, numbness or tingling, problem with breathing, rash or itching, stomach ache, and swelling in your hands or feet.

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Bluish color lips or skin;
• Chest pain or pressure;
• Easy bruising or bleeding;
• Fast of pounding heartbeats;
• Shortness of breath;
• Signs of stomach bleeding;
• Sudden dizziness;
• Swelling in your lower legs

Do not use Agrylin if you are allergic to Anagrelide or if you have any other allergies. Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctors about your medical history and if you have ever had:
• An electrolyte imbalance;
• Bleeding problems;
• Heart or lung problems;
• Liver disease;
• Long QT syndrome

Do not take Aspirin while you are taking Agrylin unless advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Agrylin and other medications such as antidepressants, medications used to improve blood flow, blood thinners, NSAIDs, etc. This medication may affect our fertility. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Agrylin is not approved for use by anyone younger than 7 years old.
