Acarizax (Standardized Allergen Extract HDM) is a prescription medication used to treat severe house dust mite allergy symptoms that have not responded to other treatments. House dust mite allergy symptoms include sneezing, itchy, stuffy, or runny nose. The drug is also used to treat allergic rhinitis in adults and adolescents between 12 and 65 years of age. The active ingredient in Acarizax is Standardized Allergen Extract HDM. Standardized Allergen Extract HDM belongs to a class of medications called allergy immunotherapy. It works by giving the body a fixed amount of house dust mite allergy extract to allow the immune system to build a natural tolerance to the allergy.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Acarizax. The most common side effects of Acarizax may include the following:
• Altered taste;
• Cough;
• Hoarseness;
• Nausea;
• Throat irritation
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• A feeling of fullness in the throat;
• Low blood pressure;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat
These are not all of the side effects of Acarizax. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Acarizax if you are allergic to Standardized Allergen Extract HDM or any ingredient in Acarizax. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have a mouth infection;
• Have an allergy to fish;
• Have an ongoing airway infection;
• Have had a recent dental surgery;
• Have had severe asthma worsening within the last three months;
• Have poor lung function
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Acarizax and other medicines. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The safety and effectiveness of Acarizax in pregnancy have not been established. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Acarizax passes into breast milk or if it may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Acarizax is a sublingual tablet. Place the drug under your tongue with clean, dry hands. Allow it to remain there until it has dissolved. Do not swallow for 1 minute. Do not eat or drink for at least 5 minutes. Wash your hands after handling the tablet. The usual dose is one tablet per day. Use this drug regularly to get the most benefit out of it. It may take between 8 and 14 weeks of using this medicine regularly to see an improvement in your symptoms. The first dose of this medicine should be taken under medical supervision. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
