Absorbine JR (Chloroxylenol/Menthol) is an over-the-counter medication used to treat minor aches and pains of the muscles and joints associated with arthritis, strains, bruises, sprains, and backaches. The drug can relieve pain from headaches, toothaches, and menstrual cramps. Absorbine JR can also be used as a first-aid antiseptic to relieve non-poisonous insect bites. The active ingredients in Absorbine JR are Chloroxylenol and Menthol. Chloroxylenol belongs to a class of drugs called antiseptics. It works by reducing swelling, numbing pain, and killing germs. Menthol belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics. It works by keeping the skin cool and then warm to distract you from the feelings of aches.

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Absorbine JR is a liniment and liquid. Please do not take it by mouth. This drug is for topical use only. Wash your hands before and after applying Absorbine JR. Gently apply Absorbine JR liniment to the affected area no more than 3 to 4 times daily. Use the applicator that comes with the medicine to apply Absorbine JR liquid to the affected area. Gently massage it into the skin. You should experience instant pain relief after using this medicine. Absorbine JR has a non-greasy formula and will not stain your clothes or furniture. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
