It is a long-acting Aripiprazole formulation with a 4 week dosing intervals. Aripiprazole belongs to the group of medications known as atypical antipsychotics. It works by acting on various receptors in the brain, particularly dopamine receptors and serotonin (5HT) receptors. This medication will help you to think clearly, feel less nervous, and live a normal life. Abilify Maintena is administered under a doctor’s supervision via intramuscular injection.

Abilify Maintena Intramuscular injection is available in the strength of 300 mg and 400 mg injections.
The common side effects of Abilify Maintena may include blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, redness, pain at the injection site, tremors and tiredness.
Talk to your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Fainting;
• Restlessness;
• Seizures;
• Signs of infection;
• Trouble swallowing

Avoid alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana. Abilify Maintena may make you sweat less which can make you more likely to get a heat stroke. This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. Aripiprazole passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
