Depression affects about 350 million people worldwide. Despite of existence of different forms of treatment for the condition, many of which have potential side effects, depression still is the world’s second cause of disability.
But risk of depression can be reduced by making some changes in your lifestyle; and first of all in your diet. According to the research high fish consumption can help to reduce risk of depression to 17%. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish can affect brain membranes and change levels of dopamine and serotonin. Of course the effect depends of fish type and the cooking method, but overall eating fish is a good way to be healthier.
