Zimed (Bimatoprost) is a preservative free eye solution used to reduce high pressure in the eye. Ocular hypertension is when the pressure in the eye is higher than usual. When the front of the eye does not drain fluid properly, it leads to pressure buildup and, eventually, glaucoma. Zimed may be used on its own or with other drops to reduce eye pressure. The active ingredient in Zimed is Bimatoprost. Bimatoprost belongs to a class of drugs called prostamides. It works by increasing the amount of liquid drained by the eyes to reduce pressure.

Apply one drop of the medicine once daily to the eye needing treatment. If you are using another eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between using Zimed and other eye medications. Wash your hands before using the medicine. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Gently pull down the lower eyelid until there is a small pocket. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it to release one drop into the eye that needs treatment. Let go of your eyelid and close your eyes for 30 seconds. Wipe off any excess medicine that may run down your cheek. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before applying Zimed. You can put them back after 15 minutes of using the eyedrops. Do not let the bottle tip touch your eye to prevent infections. Put the cap back on and close the bottle immediately after use. Do not stop using Zimed without talking to your doctor. Stopping this drug suddenly may cause the pressure in your eye to increase. Your sight may become blurred temporarily after applying the medicine. You should not drive or use machines until your sight is clear again. Store this drug below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
