Xigduo (Dapagliflozin Propanediol Monohydrate/Metformin Hydrochloride) is a prescription combination medication used with regular exercise and a healthy diet to treat people with diabetes mellitus. The active ingredients in Xigduo are Dapagliflozin Propanediol Monohydrate, and Metformin Hydrochloride. Dapagliflozin Propanediol Monohydrate belongs to a class of antidiabetic medication called SGLT2 inhibitors, and Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide. Dapagliflozin works by increasing the amount of glucose being removed from the body by the kidneys, which decreases the amount of sugar in the blood. Metformin reduces the amount of glucose the liver makes and makes it easier for glucose to enter the body's tissues.
