Wellbutrin SR (Bupropion) is an antidepressant used to treat depression and other mental/mood disorders. It may also be used for quitting smoking. This medication works by affecting the balance of chemicals that occur naturally in the brain. Antidepressants can help prevent suicidal thoughts/attempts and provide other important benefits. The usual recommended dose is 100 mg to 150mg once daily.

We currently have the brand Zyban from Turkey manufactured by GSK and the brand from Canada manufactured by Valeant. The generic comes from Canada. It may come from other countries around the world. This medication is available in the strength of 100mg and 150mg tablets.
Common side effects include:
• Anxiety;
• Constipation;
• Decrease in appetite;
• Dry mouth;
• Feeling dizzy;
• Headache;
• Trouble sleeping;
• Weight loss
Serious side effects include:
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Mental/mood changes;
• Seizures;
• Unusual weight loss or gain
You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Bupropion or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication inform your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. This drug may make you dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Avoid alcoholic beverages. There may be an interaction between Bupropion and other medications such as amitriptyline, clopidogrel, levodopa, insulin, glipizide, venlafaxine, tamoxifen, etc.
