Uroxatral (alfuzosin) is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Alfuzosin belongs to a group of medications called alpha-blockers. Uroxatral works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.

We currently have the brand Xatral XL from Turkey and the generic from UK and Canada (by Aurobindo and Apotex). This medication is available in the strength of 10 mg tablets.
The recommended dosage is one 10 mg Uroxatral Prostate Medication (alfuzosin HCl extended-release tablets) tablet daily to be taken immediately after the same meal each day. The tablets should not be chewed or crushed.
Common side effects include:
• Acid or sour stomach;
• Congestion, cough;
• Difficulty breathing;
• Dizziness;
• Ear congestion, fever, headache, heartburn;
• Hoarseness;
• Loss of sex drive;
• Sneezing, sore throat;
• Tightness in the chest, etc.
Do not take Uroxatral if you are allergic to alfuzosin or if you are taking other similar medications such as Cardura, Minipress, Rapaflo, Flomax or Hytrin. Before you start taking Uroxatral, inform your doctor if you have any medical conditions, especially of: angina (chest pain), coronary artery disease, heart problems, low blood pressure, prostate cancer, urinary tract disease, liver or kidney disease. Inform your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Uroxatral drug. Especially of: alpha-blockers, antifungal, HIV/AIDS medicines.
