Twynsta (Telmisartan/Amlodipine) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with mild to moderate high blood pressure. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems. It is used to control high blood pressure when an individual medication cannot control the condition. The active ingredients in Twynsta are Telmisartan and Amlodipine. Telmisartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB). It works by preventing the narrowing of the blood vessels to lower blood pressure and improves blood flow. Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by widening the blood vessels to improve blood flow. Treating high blood pressure prevents heart diseases, stroke and kidney failure.
