Tryptan (Tryptophan) is a prescription medication used for insomnia, sleep apnea, depression, anxiety, facial pain, and a severe form premenstrual syndrome called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), smoking cessation, grinding teeth during sleep (bruxism), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette's syndrome, and to improve athletic performance. L-tryptophan is naturally found in animal and plant proteins. It is important for the development and functioning of many organs in the body. L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that helps the body make proteins and certain brain-signaling chemicals. Your body changes L-Tryptophan into a brain chemical called serotonin which helps control mood and sleep.

We currently offer the brand Tryptan from Canada by Bausch Health. The generic Tryptophan comes from Canada by a different manufacturer.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Tryptan may include belching, diarrhea, dry mouth, headaches, heartburn, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, sexual dysfunction, and stomach pain.

Stop taking Tryptan and call your doctor immediately if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Drowsiness;
• Fatigue;
• Lightheadedness;
• Muscle weakness;
• Visual blurring
