Trandate (Labetalol) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. High blood pressure often has no apparent symptoms but can lead to serious complications if left untreated. These complications include stroke, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Trandate is also used to treat angina (chest pains) if you already have high blood pressure. The active ingredient in Trandate is Labetalol. Labetalol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It works by causing the heart to beat more slowly and with less force. The drug also widens the arteries, lowering blood pressure as it flows through the body.
