Tobradex (Tobramycin/Dexamethasone) is a combination antibiotic and steroid medication used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eyes. Tobramycin belongs to the class of drugs called aminoglycoside antibiotics and it works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Dexamethasone belongs to the class of drugs called corticosteroids and it works by decreasing inflammation and swelling. Tobradex is only used to treat and prevent bacterial eye infections. It will not work for other types of eye infections.

Canadian Pharmacy King currently offers the brand Tobradex ointment and suspension from Canada manufactured by Alcon. There is no generic available for this medication. Tobradex ointment is available in the size of a 3.5 gm tube and the suspension is available in a 5 ml vial.
Tobradex does not have any serious side effects.
The common side effects may include:
• Blurred vision;
• Burning;
• Eyelid itching;
• Eyelid swelling;
• Irritation;
• Itching;
• Redness;
• Sensitivity to light;
• Stinging

You should not use Tobradex if you are allergic to Tobramycin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. Do not use or overuse any antibiotic as it can lead to its decreased effectiveness. This medication may make your vision temporarily unstable after you apply it. You should not drive, use machinery, or od any activity that requires clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Tobradex should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before you breast feed a baby.
