Timoptic (Timolol Maleate) is a prescription eye drop used for the treatment of high pressure inside the eye due to open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Timolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta-blockers. This medication works by decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye. Timolol lowers the high pressure inside the eye which helps to prevent blindness.

Timoptic Side Effects
The common side effects may include dry eyes, feeling as if something is in the eye, headache, temporary blurred vision, temporary burning stinging itching and redness of the eye, watery eyes.
Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Coldness, numbness or pain in the hands or feet;
• Dizziness;
• Eye pain, swelling or discharge;
• Mental or mood changes;
• Muscle weakness;
• Slow or irregular heartbeat;

You should not drive, use machinery, and do any activity that requires clear vision until you can perform such activities safely. This medication should only be used during pregnancy when clearly needed. This medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
