Theolair liquid (Theophylline anhydrous) is a prescription medication used to treat lung diseases such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Treating lung diseases and COPD helps to control the symptoms, reduce the risk of flare-ups, and slow the progression of the disease. Theolair eases wheezing, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. The active ingredient in Theolair is Theophylline anhydrous. Theophylline anhydrous belongs to a class of drugs called xanthines. It works by relaxing the muscles around the airways to allow them to open up and improve breathing. The drug also decreases the lung’s response to irritants. The drug does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Use a prescribed quick-relief inhaler if sudden shortness of breath occurs.
