Seasonique (Levonorgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol) is a prescription medication that is used to prevent pregnancy. It also makes your periods more regular, decreases blood loss and painful periods, decreases the risk of ovarian cysts and treats acne. This medication contains two hormones a progestin (Levonorgestrel) and an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol). This medication works by preventing the release of an egg known as ovulation during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent fertilization and changes the lining of the uterus to prevent a fertilized egg from attaching. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Seasonique does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases. Seasonique is usually taken once daily or as directed by your doctor.
