Rydapt (Midostaurin) is a prescription medication that is used to treat certain types of blood cell cancer such as acute myeloid leukemia-AML, mast cell leukemia-MCL) or an immune system disorder called mastocytosis. Midostaurin is a multikinase inhibitor that is used orally. It works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells and certain immune system cells. This medication is taken by mouth with food usually twice daily or as directed by your doctor.

The less serious side effects of Rydapt includes constipation, dizziness, headache, hemorrhoids, muscle or joint pain, nausea or vomiting, stomach or abdominal pain, tiredness and trouble sleeping.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Black or tarry stool;
• Easy bruising or bleeding;
• Increased thirst or urination;
• Signs of infection;
• Signs of kidney problems;
• Unusual tiredness;
• Vomit that is bloody or looks like coffee grounds

You should not take Rydapt if you are allergic to Midostaurin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy. Alcohol and marijuana can make you dizzier. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. Inform your doctor if you are using marijuana. Both men and women using Rydapt should use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy. Midostaurin can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects if the mother or father is using this medication. You should not breast-feed while using this medication and for at least 4 months after you stop using this medication.
