This medication works by helping the blood flow to the cells in your scalp that grow hair or by increasing the number of actively growing cell.

Rogaine foam is manufactured in Canada by Johnson & Johnson. The generic Minoxidil solution is also called Mintop or Mintop Forte made from India. It is available in the strength of 2%/60 ml (solution) and 5%/60 gm (3 per pack). The 5%/60 gm Rogaine or Minoxidil is available with a prescription; the 2%/60 ml of Rogaine or Minoxidil solution can be purchased over the counter without prescription.
The most common side effect is the change in hair color or texture.
Severe side effects include:
• Chest pain;
• Dizziness;
• Fainting;
• Fast heartbeat;
• Redness or irritation of the scalp;
• Swelling of the hands and feet;
• Unwanted facial hair growth;
• Unexplained weight gain
Do not use Rogaine if the skin on your scalp is damaged, irritated, or sunburned. Before you start using this medication, inform your doctor if you have heart disease. Minoxidil absorbed by the body can affect the heart. Inform your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use, especially: drugs for high blood pressure and other skin products used on the scalp.
