Reglan (Metoclopramide) is a prescription medication used to treat nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, heartburn and early satiety. It may also be used in people with diabetes for the treatment of gastroparesis. Metoclopramide belongs to the class of medications called prokinetic agents. This medication works by blocking dopamine. It speeds up the movement of food through the stomach and intestines. Reglan is taken 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime usually four times daily or as directed by your doctor.

The common side effects of Reglan may include agitation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness and trouble sleeping.

• Changes in menstruation in women;
• Decreased sexual ability;
• Enlarged or tender breasts;
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;

• Severe confusion;
• Swelling of hands and feet

This medication passes into breast milk or may have undesirable effects on a nursing baby. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding.
