Rapamune (Sirolimus, also known as Rapamycin) is a prescription medication that is used with other medications to prevent rejection of a kidney transplant. Sirolimus belongs to the class of medications known as immunosuppresants. This medication works by weakening the body’s immune system to help your body accept the new organ as its own. Rapamune is used in adults who are at a low to moderate risk of rejection.
