Plavix (Clopidogrel) is used to prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke. It is also used by patients with certain disorders of the heart or blood vessels. Clopidogrel bisulfate is an anti-platelet drug that inhibits the ability of platelets to clump together as part of a blood clot.
In a clinical trial, Antiplatelet therapy from clinical trials to clinical practice by SH Rezkalla, M Benz - (Clinical Medicine & Research, 2003), they found that in patients with severe disease, particularly those who have no acute angiography, clopidogrel in a dose of 75 mg once daily should add to the benefit of Aspirin for up to a year after the event.
