Phillips Milk of Magnesia (Magnesium Hydroxide) is an over-the-counter medication used as a laxative to relieve occasional heartburn. Phillips Milk of Magnesia may also be used as an antacid to relieve indigestion, sour stomach, and heartburn. The active ingredient in Phillips Milk of Magnesia is Magnesium Hydroxide. Magnesium Hydroxide belongs to a class of drugs called laxatives. It works by reducing stomach acid and increasing water in the intestines to induce bowel movements.

• Decreased sense of taste;
• Diarrhea

You should not use Phillips Milk of Magnesia if you are allergic to Magnesium Hydroxide or any ingredient in Phillips Milk of Magnesia. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:

• Are on a low-magnesium diet;
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
• Have appendicitis;
• Have had a sudden change in bowel habits for longer than 2 weeks;
• Have kidney disease
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between the Phillips Milk of Magnesia and other medicines, such as dasatinib, atazanavir, tetracycline antibiotics, ketoconazole, ciprofloxacin, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Using this medicine during pregnancy is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine in pregnancy with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Phillips Milk of Magnesia passes into breast milk or if it may harm your nursing infant. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Phillips Milk of Magnesia comes as a suspension. Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure the liquid medicine with a dose-measuring device, not a kitchen spoon. If you are using this medicine for constipation, drink a full glass of water with each dose. When taken as a laxative, Phillips Milk of Magnesia should produce a bowel movement within 30 minutes to 6 hours. Do not use this medicine for longer than 7 days without medical advice. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
