Nexletol (Bempedoic Acid) is used along with a proper diet and other lipid-lowering medications to treat high cholesterol. Bempedoic acid is a first-in-class adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL) inhibitor. This medication works in the liver by blocking an enzyme needed to make LDL. Nexletol is taken with a statin medication to further lower cholesterol. High cholesterol can lead to a heart attack or stroke, and a statin medication alone is not enough to lower cholesterol in some patients. Nexletol is available as 180 mg tablets taken once daily with or without food. It should be taken at the same time each day with your statin medication.
