Moduretic (Amiloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combined prescription medication used to treat elevated blood pressure (Hypertension) and to reduce the amount of fluid in people with oedema, swelling of the ankles, feet and legs, and massive ascites due to liver disease resulting in fluid accumulation in the stomach area. The active substances in Moduretic are Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide. Moduretic belongs to the class of medication called Thiazide combinations. The combination therapy works by excreting the kidneys more fluid and salt while minimizing potassium loss. This helps reduce high blood pressure and associated swellings in different body parts. In addition, effective treatment of Hypertension prevents stroke, kidney diseases and cardiac arrest.
