Krintafel (Tafenoquine Succinate) is a prescription medication used to prevent the return of malaria. This drug is often used in combination with another medication like chloroquine to treat patient with malaria. A mosquito bite causes malaria. The parasites in the mosquito bite can multiply and infect the red blood cells to cause malaria symptoms. The active ingredient in Krintafel is Tafenoquine Succinate. Tafenoquine Succinate belongs to a class of drugs called antimalarials. It works by interfering with the growth of parasites in the body.

Get medical help immediately if you have any of these signs or an allergic reaction while using Krintafel. The most common side effects of Krintafel may include the following:
• Dizziness;
• Headache;
• Nausea
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, including:
• Confusion;
• Darkening of your mouth or lips;
• Fast heartbeats;
• Pale or yellow skin
These are not all of the side effects of Krintafel. Always contact your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.
You should not use Krintafel if you are allergic to Tafenoquine Succinate or any ingredient in Krintafel. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed;
• Are pregnant or planning to be pregnant;
• Have a genetic enzyme deficiency called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G6PD) deficiency;
• Have a mental illness;
• Have kidney disease;
• Have liver disease
Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be drug interactions between Krintafel and other medicines, like bupivacaine, dapsone, dofetilide, typhoid vaccine, etc. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Krintafel may harm your unborn baby. You may need to have a negative pregnancy test before starting the medication. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while taking this drug and for at least three months after your last dose. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Bupropion hydrochloride passes into breast milk and it may affect a nursing infant. Do not breastfeed while using this medicine if your baby has G6PD deficiency or has not been tested for it. Avoid breastfeeding for at least three months after your last dose. Use this medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. Krintafel is a tablet. Swallow the tablets whole with water, and do not crush or chew. Take the drug by mouth with food. If you vomit within one hour of taking the drug, take a second dose. Use protective clothing, mosquito netting, and insect repellents to prevent mosquito bites. Store this drug at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
