Klor Con (Potassium) is an over the counter medication used to treat or prevent low amounts of potassium in the blood. A normal level of potassium would help your kidneys, heart, nerves, and muscles to work better. Klor Con belongs to a group of drugs called electrolytes. Low Potassium levels could result from certain health problems, taking certain medications, or after a prolonged diarrhea or vomiting.

Seek emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction to this medication. The common side effects of Klor Con may include diarrhea, gas, nausea, vomiting, Klor Con tablet in your stool, and upset stomach.

Stop taking Klor-Con and contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
• Chest pain or trouble breathing;
• High potassium level;
• Severe throat irritation;
• Severe stomach pain, bloating, or vomiting;
• Signs of stomach bleeding

Do not take Klor-Con if you are allergic to Potassium chloride or if you have high levels of potassium in your blood or you take a "potassium-sparing" diuretic. Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have ever had:

• An electrolyte imbalance;
• An ulcer;
• Diabetes;
• Heart problems or high blood pressure;
• Liver or kidney disease;
• Severe dehydration;
• Slow digestion;
• Stomach bleeding, or a blockage in your stomach or intestines;
• Trouble swallowing

Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, nonprescription, herbal products, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Klor Con and other medications. Before using other potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
